May 27, 2014 | News

The Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries held its first steering committee meeting for the project “ICT Innovations for the development of the Masquerade Industry in Trinidad and Tobago” on September 9, 2010.

The Committee was established to function primarily as an advisory council and will assist in resource mobilization for this project execution. The establishment of the Project Steering Committee was proposed by the TTCSI to the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) through a competitive call for proposals under the MIF’s ICT4BUS Program as an intrinsic condition for project implementation.

This project, which emanated from the National Carnival Development Foundation (NCDF) Strategic Action Plan for the Transformation of Carnival (Masquerade component) into an Industry, was developed and presented to the Inter American Development Bank  – Multilateral Investment Fund (IDB-MIF) by the TTCSI).  The TTCSI was awarded the grant to implement the project following a rigorously competitive process where over 400 proposals from 21 countries were submitted. The proposed project seeks to strengthen and promote growth and development of the small and medium size businesses in the Masquerade sector. To this end, the project will implement  a carnival web-based platform.

Mr. Nirad Tewarie, CEO – TTCSI, chaired the meeting. The Project Steering Committee (PSC) include representatives from:

National Carnival Development Foundation (NCDF)

Business Development Company (BDC)

Information and Communication Technology Society (ICTS)

Trinidad and Tobago Entertainment Company (T&T Ent)

Tourism Development Company (TDC)

Internet Service Provider (TSTT or Flow)
