As the leading business support organization for the services sector in Trinidad and Tobago, TTCSI is continuously seeking to contribute and improve the competitiveness of the professional services sector.

To this end, the TTCSI alongside a team of Consultants and Representatives from the Commonwealth Secretariat will be hosting a media briefing on Friday June 15th 2012 from 10.00am to 11.00 am at the TTCSI’s Secretariat #45 Cornelio Street Woodbrook.

This session will facilitate the launch of our project, to develop a strategic plan for selected services sectors. Preliminary analysis by the consultants show that within the next 5 years the yachting services, professional services (architects, engineers); offshore education, medical tourism sectors can yield tens of millions of dollars in export revenue.

For this reason, at the request of the TTCSI, CTA Economic & Export Analysts Ltd was appointed by the Commonwealth Secretariat to assist Trinidad and Tobago improve the competitiveness of professional services through the development of strategies and action plans. An initial fact finding mission was undertaken in November/December 2011 to gain an understanding of the range of services exported and was then followed by research into the global markets for these services.

Based on this, a Diagnostic Report was prepared and found that there is great potential for Trinidad and Tobago in services export development that could have a significant impact on jobs and growth, and would help to diversify the economy from oil and gas.

At the end of the consultancy, detailed action plans for the development of the sectors will be presented by the consultants. TTCSI will lead the implementation of these recommendations going forward.
