THE Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries’ (TTCSI) Caribbean Services Exporters Symposium (CSES) has won the Best Conference award at the vFairs Eventeer Awards 2024.

The vFairs platform officially announced the winners yesterday from their third annual Eventeer Awards, which honoured excellence in events from the year 2023.

The nominees were determined by a public vote.

TTCSI hosted its inaugural CSES event virtually on the vFairs platform in October.

TTCSI was a finalist in two categories in the vFairs Eventeer Awards 2024—Best Conference and Best Virtual Event.

The Best Virtual Event category was won by ETAP for its ETAP Global Conference, vFairs announced yesterday.

“We are so grateful to all who nominated themselves, voted for events, and shared in the excitement of our Eventeer Awards this year. A huge congratulations to all of our winners and runners-up,” said Muhammad Younas, vFairs CEO.

“We look forward to continuing the tradition of celebrating excellence in events for years to come,” Younas said.

In response to the win, TTCSI CEO Vashti Guyadeen said:

“In light of our triumph at the Eventeer International Award 2024, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our sponsors, speakers, moderators and everyone who participated. This accolade is a testament to the extraordinary capabilities of Caribbean nationals, service providers, and firms when we unite and work collaboratively towards a shared goal.”

“This win is a Caribbean win where we saw the coming together of seven regional business support organisations, speakers and moderators from Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. Looking ahead to the Caribbean Services Exporters Symposium 2024, our goal is to spotlight startups and firms that are pioneering in making the Caribbean a global nexus for services. Borrowing the words of my Jamaican colleagues, ‘We may be likkle, but we are tallawah’,” she said.

TWO business chambers have expressed concern and are calling for immediate action in response to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s claim of a foreign exchange “cartel” allegedly operating among banking officials and business entities.

Persad-Bissessar made the disclosure during a post-Cabinet briefing on Thursday.

TRINIDAD and Tobago nationals, seeking to bypass the challenges of accessing foreign exchange at home, have found at least three creative ways to obtain it in Guyana.

And the increased demand is putting additional pressure on Guyana’s foreign currency market, according to its vice-president Bharrat Jagdeo.

Jagdeo made the comments during his weekly press conference yesterday, where he noted that Guyana’s foreign currency market has “changed in complexity and depth” over the past five years.

Congratulations to our new Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her new Government. Yours is a story of patience and purpose. The PM has signalled that the next chapter will be about dedication and delivery. Congratulations to our new Energy Minister, Dr Roodal Moonilal, onto whose shoulders now rests the nation’s immediate energy – and economic – future.

At the first post-Cabinet news conference, the Prime Minister flagged natural gas supplies from Guyana, Suriname and Grenada to help make up the current shortfall and the programme for restarting of the former Petrotrin refinery at Pointe-a-Pierre.
