Türkiye is hoping to strengthen its business relations with Trinidad and Tobago. This is according to the Turkish Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Bengü Yiğitgüde. Speaking at a business lunch meeting hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industry (TTCSI), Yiğitgüde says she wants to draw more attention to their trade market.

“Our figures in trade are very modest, but it does not really reflect our potential, it should be more. So, I am hoping that we can increase those numbers and create more awareness about the market here in Trinidad and Tobago and to draw some attention to the possibilities of what Türkiye can do,” Yiğitgüde said.

Yiğitgüde added that she hopes to have more cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Türkiye is just one of 36 countries involved in TTCSI’s ‘Doing Business with the World’ series. According to TTCSI’s President, Mark Edghill, these countries have an interest in exploring services offered in T&T.

“We’re basically looking to introduce our local service providers that are export-ready to access markets and learn about markets, how to access those markets, what the requirements are to enter and do business with those markets, and those markets around the world. So, it’s basically for any company that is interested in expanding their business and doing business overseas, exporting their services, and earning foreign exchange, to access and participate in the webinars that we are putting on,” he said.

Edghill said the participation in their webinars has doubled since their first session. Each week, an assigned country hosts the meeting and events to inform the participants. He also said the Turkish high commission has been particularly interested in T&T, and they hope to see developments in trade between the two countries.
